چکیده

Abstract In the present paper, an enhanced Volume of Fluid model is applied for conduction parametric numerical simulations, to investigate break-up phenomena accelerating, elongated, vapour bubbles, within circular mini-channels. The effect fundamental controlling parameters in resulting characteristics investigated. Four different series simulations isolated bubbles mini-channels are performed, examining effects imposed pressure difference between inlet and outlet channel, surface tension, heat flux as well initial liquid film thickness on developed vapour/liquid interface dynamics. overall dimensionless number ranges examined 6.76

Overall gas-liquid mass transfer from Taylor bubbles flowing upwards in a circular capillary

Overall liquid side volumetric mass transfer coefficient kLa was determined experimentally for cocurrent Taylor flow moving upwards in a glass tube of an internal diameter of 3mm. Experiments were performed for physical absorption of oxygen in 20% aqueous solution of ethanol. Shadowgraph technique was deployed for precise measurements of bubble lengths and velocities. Experimental values of vol...

Visco-Elasto-Capillary Thinning and Break-Up of Complex Fluids

The progressive break-up of an initially stable fluid column or thread into a number of smaller droplets is an important dynamical process that impacts many commercial operations from spraying and atomization of fertilizers and pesticides, to paint application, roll-coating of adhesives and food processing operations such as containerand bottle-filling. The progressive thinning of a fluid filam...

Wide Range Simulation Study of Taylor Bubbles in Circular Milli and Microchannels

A deep knowledge of the hydrodynamics of two-phase flow in millichannels and microchannels is relevant to the design and control of micro structured equipment. While there is plenty of work published in this area, there is a lack of studies over a wide range of dimensionless numbers and some factors have not been properly addressed, such as the role of the Reynolds number, the features of recir...

Capillary Break-up Rheometry of Low-Viscosity Elastic Fluids

We investigate the dynamics of the capillary thinning and break-up process for low viscosity elastic fluids such as dilute polymer solutions. Standard measurements of the evolution of the midpoint diameter of the necking fluid filament are augmented by high speed digital video images of the break up dynamics. We show that the successful operation of a capillary thinning device is governed by th...

Rayleigh–Taylor instability of violently collapsing bubbles

In a classical paper Plesset has determined conditions under which a bubble changing in volume maintains a spherical shape. The stability analysis was further developed by Prosperetti to include the effects of liquid viscosity on the evolving shape modes. In the present work the theory is further modified to include the changing density of the bubble contents. The latter is found to be importan...
